•The
influence of inherited customs of West Africa and the West Indies has
definitely marked the Afro-Caribbean culture in the Caribbean, both in the
architecture, cuisine and music, and traditions.
•In
architecture you can notice the clear British African influence, from the
Antilles Islands and Jamaica.
In
the gastronomy highlights the delicious dishes cooked in coconut milk, such as
rice and beans or brashly, or delicate sauces curry and other species that
accompany seafood. Dishes full of flavor and contrast in which species like
pepper or hot peppers are used powerful and are an indispensable part of a rich
"Pati".
And for the sweet tooth sweet "Plantinta" stuffed with pineapple or banana
and too sweet "Bon Pan".
Traditions
•Caribbean
rhythm marks the Calypso, a musical genre that, together with the Reggae, are
always present in the daily life of this region.
•The
Calypso was born in Trinidad and Tobago among the slaves as a form of
communication between them and entered Costa Rica through the port of Limón in 1871.
•In
Costa Rica our Caribbean area is the province of Limon, which is rich in
tradition and folklore.
